Seeker

I’ve always had a thing for small spaces,
for hidden corners in coffee shops,
October breezes tucked beneath the
green cover of a willow tree,
for lone forest exploring,
and paddling with no destination in mind,
but staying close to the safety of the shore

for the longest time,
I had this feeling, this conviction,
that Iā€™d been surrounded by earthen walls,
myopic vision only seeing that which was directly in front of me,
small-pictures with man-made frames,
seeing that which has meaning only to me

while feet away,
the autumn wind was blowing metamorphosis,
the tree tops slanted toward something unseeable,
swaying branches whispered existential,
and birds sang thanks to the sunrise
for things my soul longed to understand

mourning doves coo-cooed,
a murmuring of some essential secret
I did not yet know,
that I might never know,
because I didn’t know it was possible
to lift my head,
to venture outward and allow
my vision to broaden,
to peek out between the willow branches
and see beyond,
to venture far from the shore

oh, but if curiosity is allowed to
bubble freely to the surface,
and fear to diminish into the background,
if I dare to dive for treasure within,
I lift my head and apply it,
I see possibility,
I see meaning,
I feel the connectedness in all things,
find purpose in the spirited seeking
of truth

to seek truth is human –
humanness in a world
that discourages humanity
isn’t easy

but, I have a thing for being human

  1. I’m glad you added a comments feature. I have visited your blog several times, and wished I could say how effected I have been by your words.
I agree with Michael’s comment — and hope you will pop by Tale Weavers again. Right now I share the hosting with Michael. His prompts are always excellent.

    • Thank you, Lorraine. Life was just so busy for a while, and while I very much enjoy the connection and interaction, I knew I wouldn’t have the time to do so with my full attention. When I enabled it again, WP seems to select some to disable for whatever reason, so I have to manually go fix it when I realize it’s happened. But I very much appreciate that my words effect you and you take the time to comment! I will definitely be visiting again. You both have wonderful prompts. šŸ’œ

  2. Hi Angela I really loved this, you used the theme as a way to convey a beautiful self reflection. I hope you continue to share with the TW. Understanding our humanness is a life long pursuit. I think what we find as we journey along both excites us and strikes fear at the same time. It’s acknowledging these things when they float by that makes life and being human so worthwhile. Have a good day.

    • Thank you, Michael. I will continue to stope by.

It is, and I agree! And I enjoy the seeking and diving and sharing of it all. The vulnerability in this life is sacred to me, and I enjoy being surrounded by it.

I hope you have a great day as well!
