Forging Hope

img_6453

in the thick of the wood,
at the end of the beaten path,
diverged two roads

one an easy trek by eye,
the other a bit overgrown,
but neither any less hopeful
than the other

and I,
I wandered off the road,
I stepped into the wood

they say the road less traveled
makes all the difference

but with hope as the machete,
what will come of forging
into the forest?

-reference made to The Road Not Taken, by Walt Whitman; photo is stock by offset.com; written for my dear friend Rita, whose soul must step into the wood
